A man jumped from the queen Isabella memorial causeway this afternoon and survived.
The incident happened around noon today and authorities say a man drove his Chevrolet Blazer to the highest point of the bridge, got out of the vehicle and jumped into the water.
Cameron county sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and thought the man was dead until he surfaced.
The man, identified by the U.S. coast guard as 42 year old Hector Baez from Brownsville, was arrested and is expected to face multiple charges.
The motive behind his stunt, hasn’t been disclosed. However, authorities believe he was under the influence of alcohol.
