Man Ejected from Car After Not Wearing Seat Belt

A Weslaco man is dead tonight after he crashes his vehicle into a trailer hauling wooden pallets just south of mile 5 and Texas Boulevard.
According to D.P.S. the victim, identified as 67 year old Efrain Rivera was headed at a high rate of speed northbound on Texas boulevard and struck the trailer as he approached a curve and attempted to pass other vehicles in an area marked as a no passing zone.
It is understood Rivera died instantly when his white passenger car hit the trailer. Justice of the peace Jesus Morales, confirmed the victim’s death at about 4 45 this afternoon.
Meanwhile, McAllen D.P.S. officials urge people to obey traffic laws and buckle up to prevent this from happening to other drivers.
So far this year there have been 2 fatal automobile accidents and 2 fatal auto peds in the mid upper valley. According to witnesses, Rivera was driving over 80 miles per hour, when this incident happened.
