Man confronts Police with handgun, gets shot

An armed man shot down at by a mission police officer remains in the hospital tonight.

Close to 2pm today, police were serving a search warrant at an apartment complex on Janie street and Bentsen palm drive following up on an investigation linked to the investigation of a string of burglaries.

In the course of executing the search warrant the individual confronted the officer displaying a handgun directly at the officer, the officer discharged his fire arm, striking the individual once.

The department of public safety and Texas constable deputies were on the scene.

At the moment, the suspects identity and current health condition is unknown.

Chief Longoria tells fox2 news the investigation has been handed over to the Texas rangers.
