Man arrested for the murder of Weslaco women

A man identified as 19 year old Lionzo Cantu faces a multi-million dollar bond, charged in the shooting death of a Weslaco woman. Cantu faces a seven and a half million dollar bond after being accused of shooting to death 26-year-old Donna Lee Bocanegra. 65-year-old Manuela Bocanegra, the victim’s mother, was critically injured in the shooting, but managed to crawl out of the house to get help. Responding to a number of tips, the suspect was caught and later identified by the mom. Cantu faces one count of capital murder and attempted capital murder. He may be facing the death penalty. Weslaco police are now working to find a second suspect.
Both were identified as gang members.
