Customs and Border Protection officials seized close to $6 million worth of cocaine from a commercial shipment of cinder block.
Yesterday afternoon a Peterbilt tractor arrived at the Pharr cargo facility towing a flat bet trailer. The 38-year-old Mexican citizen driver declared a commercial shipment of cinder block and was referred to a secondary inspection. It was there that a narcotic detector dog alerted authorities to the goods. The blocks had been cut in half and filled with packages of cocaine. All in all, 112 packages of cocaine were removed from 38 cinder blocks. The drugs are estimated to be worth approximately $5.8 million.
