New evidence that people who exercise can extend their lives… And make those additional years more enjoyable.

A Harvard university study says women who exercise regularly at age sixty are less likely to have chronic illnesses after age seventy and less likely to need heart surgery.

Canadian researchers found weight-lifting helps the aging brain.

Scientists at the university of British Columbia say women in their sixties and seventies who did resistance training …Once or twice a week for a year… Became more alert and got better at solving problems.

In Germany… At the Munich university of technology… Researchers say adults over fifty-five who are moderately or highly active are more likely to remain mentally sharp.

Another German study says exercise strengthened the bones of women over sixty-five and reduced their risk of falling.

All these age-and-exercise studies appear in the archives of internal medicine.
