Foxrio2.com is not responsible for any misunderstanding. It is estimated that around 40,000 people in the valley have not yet made the transition to digital television. In an effort to aid those still in the process, the Federal Communications Commission, otherwise known as FCC has designated the University of Texas Pan American as the regional call center in order to assist the community with any questions they might have as this historical switch takes place. “Five months ago we got contacted by TV managers about how to reach the community with the transition, especially those who would have issues with the switch, we already have a call center so we decided that in the next couple days we would switch the call center to only digital television transition information center, ” says Richard Trevino, Dir. of Student Support Services.
Local staff have been in training all week preparing for the high volume calls anticipated. The call center will be open from June 12 to the 16th from 8am to 10pm. If you’re more of a visual learner, local best buy stores have booths set up with television sets showing customers how to connect their televisions to converter boxes as well as assist them with any questions in regards to the switch. For questions regarding the switch call 317-2088 or 1888-dtv 2009. You can also visit the website at www.dtv2009.gov
