Lactose Intolerance
Usually people are able to eat or drink milk products without experiencing any issues. There are however many people who experience mild to severe discomfort and that’s usually a sign of lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance usually develops, as we get older and continues for life. Gastroenterologist, Dr. Nelson Spinetti says, “The lactose tolerance is basically when we have the lactose from the milk is producing mal-absorption in the patient. Basically the lactose the sugar is not well absorbed through the G.I. system.” The symptoms usually begin anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours after consuming milk or milk products and can include vomiting, abdominal pain, gases, distention and diarrhea. Often times, people who have never had problems develop lactose intolerance especially if it runs in the family. The best thing to do is modify your diet, avoid milk learn to recognize what may trigger symptoms and substitute with soymilk.
