Kansas Man Leads Local Authorities on High-Speed Chase

Cristopher Castorena lead Mission and McAllen police officers as well as U.S. marshals in a pursuit this afternoon which, according to official reports, began on Expressway 83 and Ware Road and ended here, just north of Dicker Road on 23 Street in McAllen. According to task force investigators, Castorena is wanted in Kansas for violation of his parole after a possession of marihuana conviction. Officers did find two switchblades inside the white Cadillac Seville driven by Castorena this afternoon. The U.S. Marshals are in charge of this investigation, but Mission police have yet to determine whether or not Castorena would face charges for evading arrest and possession of an illegal weapon. Castorena is being held at the mission city jail and once the investigation is closed, he will be transferred to Kansas City authorities where he is expected to face charges for violating his parole.
