Jury selection to be held soon for the Rubio case

Jury selection is expected to begin Wednesday on the hearing to determine if accused child killer John Allen Rubio is competent to stand trial for capital murder. Prospective jurors will appear in Hidalgo County state district judge Noe Gonzalez’ court. The 29-year-old Rubio is charged in the murders of his three children in March of 2003. Rubio’s common law wife and mother are expected to testify on his behalf during his competency hearing. Rubio was convicted in November of 2003 in his children’s deaths, but reversed on appeal.
