Jury selection in Rubio trial

Jury selection began on a hearing to determine if accused child killer John Allen Rubio is competent to stand trial for capital murder.

About two hundred Cameron county residents showed up for potential jury duty. Hidalgo county state district judge Noe Gonzalez is presiding over the case. Once a jury is seated, the hearing is scheduled to begin next Tuesday.

The 29-year old Rubio is accused of murdering his three children in Brownsville in march of 2003. His original conviction was reversed by the Texas court of criminal appeals.
