Ice Cream Man Arrested

A 17-yer-old ice cream man is facing aggravated sexual assault charges. He was charged and given a $500,000 bond. According to police documents, the girl’s mother told sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday that her daughter ran away from home. The woman told investigators she believed her daughter was with an ice cream vendor who regularly visited their neighborhood. Authorities were able to contact the 12-year-old and convince her to disclose her location. Sheriff’s deputies then arrested Hernandez at his home. Investigators were able to recover a comforter and pillowcase as evidence in this case. Garcia who had no local criminal record in the county’s database and was not able to provide identification is believed to be illegal immigrant. The young girl told investigators she met Fidel one month ago when he was selling ice cream in her neighborhood and that she did indeed agree to have sex with him while at his home.
Hernandez admits to knowing the girls age. Unless Hernandez posts bond, he will remain at the hidalgo county jail.
