Ice Cream could avoid depression prescriptions.

Forget the prescription, you might be able to just head to the freezer if you’re feeling blue.
New research in “the journal of nature neuroscience” says depression and our appetites are linked.
While it doesn’t exactly say ice cream can be an anti-depressant. Universities of Texas researchers do suggest a brain chemical motivates us to eat comfort foods — like ice cream. That chemical is called ghrelin.
We make more of it when we’re hungry. Doctors found mice that ate a low calorie diet had increased ghrelin levels. They also showed signs of becoming more depressed. Researchers think eating foods like ice cream would then decrease our ghrelin levels… Making us feel better.
That explains why we call them “comfort foods.”
