Areas west of Highway 281 in Hidalgo, brooks and all of Starr and Jim Hogg counties are more susceptible to the sparks with a recent increase in humidity in those areas. Residents are urged to exercise caution during outside activities that could cause wildfires like tossing cigarettes from vehicles or operating machinery near tall grass.
