High Speed Chase Leads to Drug Bust

A traffic violation quickly escalated into a harrowing episode in which an innocent bystander had a brush with death.
A white van was signaled to stop by a La Joya cop, but instead of stopping it sparked a pursuit. The driver headed towards Highway 83, but the chase ended abruptly when the suspect drove into a commercial plaza. The frantic driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled. The white van kept going and crashed into the owner of a photo shop. Authorities say he sustained injuries to both legs.
When authorities looked inside the vehicle they found over one thousand pounds of marihuana. The subject fled but authorities are tracking him down as well as investigating the origin of the van and the drugs.
