Navarro is charged with theft by a public servant, engaging in organized criminal activity and tampering with government records.
The case against county elections administrator, Teresa Navarro, has only just begun. She along with three others from the county elections office were arrested in Hidalgo County, earlier this morning.
As you may recall, Navarro and three others were flagged during a routine audit of the county elections office back in April. Navarro was arrested on five counts, including theft by a public servant, engaging in organized criminal activity, and tampering with government records.
Along with Navarro, Patricia Zapata, Rene Solis, and Amando Cavazos were all arrested on several counts of theft by a public servant and engaging in organized criminal activity. The four stole more than twenty thousand dollars but less than a hundred thousand, which is a felony amount.
Navarro’s attorney was present with her in the proceedings this afternoon and says they plan to fight the accusations against the former elections administrator.
The indictments were returned to the Hidalgo County district court, the time and date for the arraignments have yet to be set. The defendants could be given their rights to their own council or an appointed lawyer by the state. It could take up to three to four weeks to set the arraignment date, and only then will the dates of the trials be set.

What has happened with Teresa Navarro’s case? Sylvia Handy? What is Omar Guerrero doing now?
What about Brig Marmolejo? I would like to see some follow up on our corrupt and some allegedly corrupt public (elected or appointed) officials?
