Sex between American teenagers is *down*… And those who *are* having sex are practicing safer sex than before.
Those are the latest findings from a new government study. The centers for disease control reports that — over the past seventeen years, teens are having *less* sex with *fewer* partners.
The number of teens who say they have had sex has gone down from fifty four percent in 1991 to 48 % today. And the number reporting more than one sexual partner has gone down from 19 percent to fifteen percent.
More teens are also using condoms. That number — up to about sixty-two percent today… From forty-six percent in 19-91.The news isn’t *all* good, though. The CDC reports — some groups are still taking risks.
Sex practices among African American and Hispanic students have not changed by much since the early 1990s. The CDC recommends more teen sex education for at-risk students, especially black and Hispanic males.
