Jennifer Martinez, 35 years of age is now under custody of federal agents — this in connection with allegations of immigration fraud where she allegedly scammed at least 70 persons with hundreds of thousands of dollars

According to Hidalgo county Sheriff Lupe Trevino, the suspect operated not only from Laredo to Brownsville, but also in the Houston area

He also tells us she would pose as an FBI agent, promising her victims to facilitate the immigration process for their loved ones, in exchange for large amounts of money, in some cases up to $18-thousand dollars.

Sheriff Trevino alerts the community about scam artists who prey upon immigrants seeking assistance in obtaining legal residence, work authorization, or citizenship — many of them claim that they’re attorneys or that they have close connections to the immigration and naturalization service
