Former U.S Customs Officer Sentenced To More Than 11 Years

A federal judge has sentenced a former customs officer to more than 11 years in prison for smuggling illegal immigrants, taking bribes, and possessing cocaine. Sergio Lopez Hernandez was a U.S customs and border protection officer in Brownsville. The 41-year old pleaded guilty in April to taking more than 150 thousand dollars in bribes. In return, he let illegal immigrants and drugs pass through his lane at the B&M international bridge.
