Two former Hidalgo county sheriff’s deputies arrested late last year have been formally indicted today for possession of marijuana and their alleged involvement in organized crime.
41 year old Heriberto Diaz and 36 year old Omar Salazar were allegedly working on a burglary investigation on November 24th when they were caught by a mission police officer along with two other individuals in the possession of several bundles of marijuana during a drug raid near Ottumwa street.
According to the indictment, both Diaz and Salazar were involved with a Mexican drug smuggling organization and tried to distract the police officer by making him believe the other two suspects were informants leading up to their release from custody.
