The U.S. centers for disease control and prevention says more children have food allergies today than ten years ago.
The CDC says about three million American children have a food or digestive allergy, which is 18% more than ten years ago.
Some experts say this increase may be due, in part, to parents who are quicker to have children checked out by doctors.
Eight types of food… Including milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat… Account for ninety percent of those allergies.
Reactions range from a tingling sensation around the mouth area, to hives, and in the most severe cases, death.
Children with food allergies are also more likely than other children to have asthma and other types of allergies. It’s still unknown how or why children develop food allergies… And why some outgrow them while others remain allergic for life.
