Hidalgo County is stepping up its security measures through the help of a hefty grant. Congressman Henry Cuellar was on hand to help present the new and one of the only First Responder Crime Scene Units with a check worth more than a quarter million dollars. The new team will also be given two new and state of the art First Responder vehicles to help keep streets safe. Officials say border regions encompass different obstacles and the goal of this grant is to give the adequate resources to the men and women that patrol our streets.
Congressman Cuellar goes on to say that statewide, the percentage of violent crimes has decreased 3.5% and it’s because of exemplary departments like the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s.
