Moments of tension lived today at an Edinburg elementary school after a fire breaks out in a bathroom. At around 1:45 this afternoon Edinburg firefighters rushed to Robert E Lee elementary school. The school located on sugar and Sprague had a small firebreak out the Pre-kinder hall.”When we arrived on the scene the school had already been evacuated. We entered the building and in the first hallway the girls restroom we did find some smoke and what appeared to be the vent fan”Deputy Chief Perez told Fox 2 news that it was actually a faculty member that put the flames out with a fire extinguisher.”The main duties that we had was to make sure the kids were safe and out of the area which they were. Isolate the electricity, check for extensions in the attic and ventilate the area.”As soon as officials were given the green light, faculty and students a like were allowed back in, no one was hurt in the incident. It should be noted that the fast response from school faculty and the preparedness of the children played a big role in preventing this fire from becoming a tragedy.
