A special charter plane landed shortly after 12 o’clock this afternoon at McCreery aviation. Family members, friends, along with veterans and police escorts awaited for the fallen soldier. 26 year old staff sergeant Bradley Espinoza died last week while trying to defuse a roadside bomb. The mission native was serving his tour of duty in Iraq. Espinoza is the 33rd valley soldier to make the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Something, his family and the community will forever remember. A group of civilian and uniformed personnel met the military transport as it landed the flag-draped coffin that was placed into a waiting hearse, which was part of a convoy en route to the Rivera funeral home. Dozens of residents watched as the convoy made its way through mission. They waived an American flag to honor the fallen soldier and show support to the Espinoza family. Staff sergeant Bradley Espinoza joined the army 7 years ago and has been the recipient of many awards and decorations. Something his family will always be proud of. The fallen soldier is survived by his wife, who also serves in the military, his 6-year-old daughter and his 3-year-old son. The public can pay their respects to the family tomorrow. A mass has been scheduled at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Alton. The burial will take place at the Rio Grande valley state veterans cemetery in mission.
