Drunk Driver Kills One Leaves Another in Critical Condition

D.P.S. officers responded to Monte Cristo and tower roads for a two-vehicle accident tonight. A black dodge Ram pick- up- truck driven by an alleged drunk driver struck a dark blue Chevy Silverado head on, killing the driver of the second vehicle identified by relatives on scene as Jose Pablo Mata. Mata and his wife Manuelita Mata, who was rushed to McAllen Medical Center and is in critical condition, were heading back from a mariachi concert when the accident happened. Both victims are residents from Sebastian, near Raymondville, Texas. According to family members on location, the alleged drunk driver was heading west bound on Monte Cristo Road with his vehicle headlights off when he hit the Mata family.
