Drug Traffickers Leave Loot, But Make a Getaway

It was a busy afternoon on the border for Palmview Police after one of their officers participated in a high-speed chase with the driver of this brown Chevy S.U.V. According to official sources, the driver of the suburban was driving against traffic near Minnesota Road and frontage when it caught the attention of a patrol unit. The driver of the suspect vehicle initiated a pursuit heading towards Butterfly Park but later ended in the river. The driver and the passenger of the unit absconded and left 40 bundles of narcotics behind. Immediately Mission Police, Hidalgo County Sheriffs Deputies, Border Patrol agents, a Texas Highway Patrol and a customs helicopter all assisted in the search for the alleged smugglers, however they managed to get away. The search was called off and the drugs were transported to the Palmview Police Department evidence room. Its approximate weight in is 1000 pounds. According to Palmview Police, the estimated street value of the narcotics is set at approximately $300,000. As for the smugglers they were nowhere to be found.
