A department of public safety trooper reports a shooting this morning just south of Abram and police are mobilized in the search for a suspect vehicle

DPS officials tell us the trooper only heard the shots, but other sources say the trooper was shot at, at least twelve times but didn’t get hit.

He apparently called for backup, and then dozens of border patrol agents, Palmview police and DPS units responded to the location in the search of a dodge pickup the incident reportedly happened on the levee located just south of military road and Abram road. Fox 2 news captured the moments of a heavy police presence moments after the trooper reported the shooting.

Still, no word tonight on the whereabouts of the suspects or their vehicle.
