Deadly fire under investigation

A Harlingen resident did not live through a fire that nearly destroyed his entire home on Monday. Meanwhile, the fire department tries to figure out what caused the blaze. Memories of what used to give life to this residence lie on the front lawn of the property located at 1825 north 8th street in Harlingen. Flames sparked up around 8 o’clock Monday morning alarming nearby residents. Fire crews were dispatched immediately to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to other homes. As firefighters battled the blaze they noticed an unconscious person in the deep patches of smoke.
“When the firefighters arrived they did begin to fight the fire and noticed an individual inside the house. Firefighters did pull him out of the building.”
“A body was found of a 37 year old subject. EMS responded, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
