We’ve all been plagued by a dry annoying cough at some time or another but if you also experience shortness of breath and phloem with the cough it could very well be bronchitis.
Acute bronchitis often starts with a dry cough that is triggered by inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes and according to dr. Jose Pena some other symptoms may include the following.
“A lot of people start just with the cough but then they start to feel a tightness in the chest and shortness of breath and high fever and productive cough. Really they should see a doctor at an early point rather than late”
Smokers, the elderly diabetics or those who have been infected with a virus or the common cold that has progressed are usually most likely to get bronchitis. If left untreated hospitalization may be necessary. So there are preventative measures that can be taken as well as effective treatments.
Pena: “Prevention by one side is to have vaccinations. To have the flu shot the pneumonia shot of course not to smoke, the less the better basically. And then the treatment depending how bad it is can do it with some antibiotics some nebulizer”
Dr. Pena suggests maintaining a healthy lifestyle with good diet and exercise but also to get vaccinations and practice regular hand washing, as germs that provoke bronchitis are contagious.
