It’s common sense to avoid an open ladder for fear of something falling on you. Superstitious people say when you do you’re tempting the fates.

And warren’s got a broken foot to prove it.

Superstitious people believe that when the umbrella is opened inside and our of the way of the sun’s rays it offends the sun god. It may even mean impending ill fortune for both the person who opened it and the people who live within the home, judge for yourself.

Triskaidekaphobia or the fear of the number 13 is one of the most common superstitions around.

A common explanation is that the number 13, in the Christian faith, was the number of people at the last supper, with the 13th guest at the table being the traitor, Judas.

Some airplanes avoid a 13th row and we even have movies with the date Friday the 13th, considered by some to be the most unlucky day and anything that can go wrong will.

This superstition is a tough one for cat lovers to swallow. Some people believe that black cats can turn into witches or demons.

Lets say you’re walking or driving along and suddenly a black cat crosses your path. Would you consider it bad luck? If it walks towards you, does it mean it’s good luck coming your way? But what if you have one of these eye glowing. Hissing four legged creatures at home?

To make bad matters even worse, people who are firm believers of this common superstition say a broken mirror creates a broken soul, which in turn leads to the broken health of the unfortunate user.

But why seven years you ask? Well, it is also believed that a person’s physical body renews itself every seven years, so under that superstition it would take seven years before the user’s soul would be fully restored, up until then, life for a mirror breaker would be oneĀ  long string of unfortunate events, but there are ways to counteract the negative effects.

Black cats, broken mirrors, triskaidekaphobics, or spilling salt. Believe what you want. However, the Roman Catholic Church considers superstition to be sinful.
