City officials clean up as Ike leaves debris on South Padre Island

The bad weather clean-up crews on south Padre Island continue doing their job as more debris left over from hurricane Ike continues washing in.
We are experiencing a lot of debris coming out of the beach. We have the maintenance department from the Cameron city parks cleaning the area picking up the debris.”
“Objects as big as a refrigerator have been washed ashore at south padre island. The beach looks like a landfill with all this debris scattered everywhere.”
From electric poles, pieces of furniture, to personal belongings there is an array of objects that have traveled miles and landed in this popular tourist hot spot. Island officials are concerned about people who will visit the island this weekend.
