A probation officer of the Amador Rodriguez juvenile boot camp in San Benito is behind bars for improper sexual activity with a cadet in custody. Patricia Aguilar confessed to performing oral sex on a 17-year-old boy in her own office on January 31, and she was arrested on February 3rd. A second sexual encounter allegedly took place in the parking lot of the San Benito Walmart after the boy had been cut loose unsupervised release Cameron County Sheriff, Omar Lucio says it is an embarrassment. She has been dismissed from her job and faces a third-degree felony count of improper sexual activity with a person in custody that could net her up to 10 years in jail.

A 73-year-old woman defended herself against assailants that tried to rob her home. It happened this morning around 5 on W. mile 10 N. The woman was assaulted by two men. They entered her home and held a knife to her throat. Then one of them held her down in her living room while the other robbed the home. She managed to escape but suffered several wounds to her wrist. One of the men was detained, he was identified as Alejandro del Siderio Arias. His charges and bond are still pending. Authorities are still on the lookout for the second suspect.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide whose body was found in a vacant home’s backyard. The man was identified as Oscar Treviño, 39-year-old, convicted felon with a long criminal history. Authorities also add that Treviño may have been part of the prison gang “Raza Unida”. The autopsy report confirms that the man died due to a gunshot to the back of the head.

Hidalgo county sheriff’s deputies are trying to locate a suspect involved in a shooting in south Alamo. Area residents say, gunfire broke out early Tuesday morning near Cathy lane St. and Rancho Blanco Rd., just S. of El Gato Rd. in an area known as “Little Mexico”. Officials say they got information about a man who fired several rounds into the air at that location and later fled the scene. Luckily, a stray bullet, hurt no one during the random gunfire, but authorities do wish to locate the suspect. The UTPA Police Department and other law enforcement officials are investigating a suspicious death of an adult female whose body was found near an external staircase of the Science Building on campus. Identification of the woman, whose body was discovered shortly before 8 a.m. today, is pending. There is no imminent danger to the university community and the investigation has been contained to the Science Building. The university issued campus alerts to students, faculty, and staff. The Science Building has been evacuated until further notice. All classes scheduled today in the Science Building have been cancelled. Operations at other campus facilities remain normal. Additional information will be made available as the investigation continues. The Science Building will remain closed until noon Tuesday. All morning classes held in the Science Building are cancelled. The case will be handled by the Texas Rangers and the University Police Department. A preliminary cause of death will possibly be available by tomorrow.

Authorities in Hidalgo County had another body to investigate today. A man left dead in the back yard of a vacant home. Construction workers found the body at a house in the 1700 block of Verbena Street. FOX 2 NEWS has learned that the victim has been identified, but this information has yet to be released. From the beginning of the investigation it was suspected that the victim had a gang affiliation. A preliminary investigation suggested the man suffered at least one gunshot wound to the head and blunt-force trauma to the face. Neighbors say that they did not hear any gunshots. There is a possibility that the man’s body was dumped at the site. Investigation is ongoing.
