Women who regularly watch what they eat may gain extra pregnancy weight.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina say women with a controlled diet before pregnancy tend to gain too much weight while they’re carrying a child.
They looked at one-thousand-two-hundred women.
The pre-pregnancy dieters gained more weight during pregnancy than doctors recommend — putting themselves and their babies at risk.
Women who gain too much weight during pregnancy have more c-sections and are more likely to have babies with growth problems
The findings appear in this month’s “journal of the American dietetic association.”
