The BISD board of trustees president Rolando Aguilar called for a special meeting tomorrow afternoon to discuss the possible removal of Superintendent Hector Gonzalez. Apparently not all members of the school board support his request.
It has been a hectic two weeks for Brownsville independent school district superintendent Hector Gonzalez after the school board previously denied his offer to resign in return for a consultant position for the rest of the year.
Rolando Aguilar wants the school board to consider conducting an investigation on Gonzalez. It is unknown what the allegations are, but trustee Dr. Enrique Escobedo says ever since the new board members took office after the November elections, they have been hounding the superintendent.
Dr. Enrique Escobedo- Trustee: “I am very annoyed and frustrated by tomorrows meeting, because to my knowledge thus far I have not seen or heard or even read of any evidence whatsoever that merits the suspension of the superintendent”
Escobedo says students are taking state exams at the moment and the staff needs to focus on academic success rather than dealing with the current situation.
