Border Patrol Agent Runs-Over Pedestrian

A Border Patrol agent struck and killed a pedestrian early Tuesday morning while patrolling the city of Pharr. Police received the emergency phone call around 2:50 am. Upon arrival to the 600 block of military road in Pharr, officers realized it had been a Hispanic male that was struck by a border patrol unit driven by 35-year old agent Francisco Longoria who was traveling east. Lt. Salinas said it was to early in the investigation to identify the victim, who at the moment of the accident did have a birth certificate on him; however, they will wait for autopsy results to corroborate the information. Authorities are working to reconstruct the accident to determine the speed and other factors involved in the case.
