Border Patrol agent pleads guilty
August 20, 2008 | News
A former valley based border patrol agent could be facing time for physically abusing un-documented immigrants on more than one occasion.
28-year-old Santiago Perez has pleaded guilty of violating the civil rights of those immigrants in question. The first incident, prosecutors say, happened when Perez pistol-whipped a Guatemalan national who was not resisting arrest. The second, happened when the agent handcuffed an immigrant, forced him to kneel and put a gun to his head, claiming he would kill him. Sentencing for this case should come in November.
