Foxrio2.com is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Alan Bersin, the former federal prosecutor in the Clinton administration and newly appointed “Border Czar” visited the Rio Grande Valley today.
Bersin has been chosen to lead the fight against the flow of drugs and illegal migration across the Mexican border. He once headed a border crackdown that discouraged illegal crossings in the San Diego area. Today he met with U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in the Valley and other federal and local authorities.
Bersin said part of his job would be improving relations at a historic moment in the bilateral relationship with Mexico. He added that the leap ahead should be done in a respectful way and mutually supportive way.
Bersin warned against being rash when it comes to fears of a spillover of drug violence. Bersin added that the U.S. is acknowledging that some of the problems in Mexico have started in the United States with regard to the illegal consumption of drugs and the hiring of undocumented immigrants.
The new “czar” toured border infrastructure at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge, the gateway bridge and visited the Hidalgo County levee-wall project.
