Bomb threat at HEB in Alamo

Hazmat crews responded to the Alamo HEB shortly before 10 o’clock this morning after a black box was discovered in the middle of the parking lot.
The box, which was later confirmed to be a combination safe was surrounded by shopping carts and, according to initial reports, a liquid unknown substance was oozing from it.
Customers were evacuated and HEB employees were kept inside the store as a safety precaution as Edinburg and Pharr hazmat teams geared up to figure out what exactly was inside the mysterious safe.
The parking lot was blocked off for hours…everyone was being kept away at least 100 feet from the box.
Alamo police chief tells fox 2 news, they will verify the serial number on the safety box to determine who it’s registered to… Police will also take a look at store surveillance tapes to figure out who left it behind.
Officials are just glad no one was injured during the incident.
