Body Changes Start In Mid Forties

The older you get the less fit you’ll probably be. A new university of Houston study says men and women become less fit with age. And the declines start to accelerate after you turn forty-five. Researchers looked at the diets, exercise routines, and other lifestyle factors of about twenty thousand twenty to ninety-six year olds. Statistical models show that while fitness levels decline continuously over time, it speeds up after forty-five. The decline is also greater for men compared to women. The results show being active, keeping weight in check and not smoking is the best way to have good, cardio respiratory fitness. Being inactive with a higher weight is linked with substantially higher health risks. The study appears in archives of internal medicine.
