BISD has new superintendent

The Brownsville independent school district board of trustees have voted unanimously to hire Brett Springston as their new superintendent of schools.

The 49-year old Springston will be paid an annual salary of 198-thousand dollars and his contract is for three years. Springston became the lone finalist for the position last month and had been interim superintendent since taking over in January for hector Gonzales, who was fired after an investigation of BISD’s special services department.
