The Cameron County sheriff’s office is investigating the case of an infant boy who allegedly died of suffocation Saturday morning at an apartment complex on Tecate Road. According to sheriff Lucio, the baby was under the care of his parents when the incident occurred. The infant had been crying late at night and the father took him out of the crib, fed him and placed him on the bed between his wife and he. When the father woke up in the morning he noticed that there were spots of blood on his shirt and blood was also coming out of the baby’s mouth. He performed CPR on the child, but he would not respond. They called 911 and rushed the baby to the hospital. That’s where doctors pronounced the infant as deceased. Sheriff Lucio says that the child did not show any signs of trauma.
