BABY DIES OF MALNOURISHMENT- SAN BENITO MAN IN JAIL

A San Benito man is charged with murder after a four-month-old baby in his custody dies.
Last night the Cameron county sheriff department received a phone call that a baby was un-responsive. Upon arrival officers saw the suspect, Abraham Jacob Proenza attempting to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The infant, who had allegedly not been eating well, was unresponsive.
“Not responsive… Hospital… Pronounced dead at 11:00″
According to autopsy reports, the baby was severely malnourished and “weighed as much as a newborn.” Abraham Proenza has been charged with injury to a child by omission and murder by omission for failure to seek medical care for the sick infant.
