Authorities identify body in Harlingen fire

Authorities revealed the name of the victim whose body was found
The male subject was identified as 37-year-old Jaime Javier Mendez.
Preliminary autopsy results indicate that Mendez suffered a gunshot wound.
This past Monday Harlingen firefighters responded to a house fire located on the 1800 block of 8th street.
No soon had the blaze been controlled that the charred body was found inside the house.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of death, the investigation is ongoing.
