Alleged Sex Offender Arrested at Bridge

A Brownsville resident was detained this weekend after customs and Border Protection officers found out he had an arrest warrant for the alleged sexual assault of a minor. After identifying a man who tried to enter the U.S. on foot at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, a Customs and Border Protection officer found out he was wanted in Cameron county.

Eddie Perez, CBP Spokesperson: “The pedestrian presented his documents and our data base revealed that he had an arrest warrant.”
After a secondary inspection, officers confirmed that it was 37-year-old Salome Lopez Espino of Brownsville who faces state charges related to the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor.
Perez: “He was arrested and turned over to the Cameron County Sheriff
