In just a two hour span customs and border protection officers assigned to the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge made three separate cocaine seizures in their commercial cargo facility with an estimated value of about $16-million.
This commercial cargo facility is one of the busiest ones in the Rio Grande Valley, about a 1000 tractor-trailers cross this bridge on a daily basis. Their cargo may range from shipments of produce or industrial materials, a method drug trafficking organizations attempt to use to smuggle illicit drugs into the U.S.
The federal agency tells us this historic achievement represents a significant milestone in their work to disrupt the cycle of illegal activity in the Southern border.
In total, CBP officers seized 200 bundles with a total weight of 500 and 1,100 additional pounds of marijuana were seized at the Rio Grande City commercial cargo facility.
