Some advice on not ignoring what could be a powerful weapon if you’re waging a battle to lose weight this year.
When the scale just won’t budge, you may be willing to try just about anything: Pills, shakes, the latest super food.
But you may be overlooking a simple, but effective way to help you eat less naturally. What is it?
Fiber! There’s a mountain of research that proves fiber can help you lose weight.
A recent department of agriculture study found women who doubled their daily fiber intake to 24 grams ate 90 fewer calories per day, compared to women who got less fiber. As a bonus, fiber helps reduce your risk of diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.
The USDA recommendation for fiber is 25 grams, but some experts say you should aim for even more, especially if you’re try to lose weight. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes and nuts are all high in fiber; but if you’re diet is deficient right now, gradually work more in so you don’t end up with unpleasant side effects like constipation.
