Accused murderer to be sentenced

The fate of an accused murderer hangs in the balance.
Alton native, Daniel Garcia, was found guilty of stabbing his wife, 25-year-old Yrazema Placencia 58 times in august of last year. Apparently, Placencia told him she was leaving him for another man and threatened to take custody of their two children.
Garcia’s attorney maintains it was a crime of passion, something that could reduce the murder conviction from a first degree to a second-degree felony. Garcia’s punishment ranges from probation to life in prison.
