With a $100-million dollar investment –officials say– this bridge becomes a port of the future

The Anzalduas bridge opens to international travelers Tuesday, December 15th, at 6 a-m, only accepting non-commercial vehicle traffic

The 3.2 mile long bridge, is a joint project between the cities of Mission, Hidalgo, Mcallen and Granjeno that provides a faster route to and from cities in the northern part of Mexico and is expected to dramatically boost industrial, commercial, and retail trade in the region

But this crossing is not only the closest international bridge to Monterrey and Mexico city—- it’s also the first bridge to be built and begin operations in the last ten years

The bridge is also equipped with sentri lanes to facilitate bridge crossings for those who work in 4-hundred maquiladoras in the Reynosa and Mcallen areas
But most importantly,,, officials say the new Anzalduas bridge will stimulate business and tourism for both countries
