Motorcycle Accident Leaves Daughter, Father In Critical Condition

This one left one 7 year old girl and her father in critical condition.
The mini bike in which a 7 year old girl was riding on along with her dad is now in two pieces. It happened north of Weslaco on mile 6 west and San Vicente street. According to DPS Sgt Jonny Hernandez, a black Jeep Patriot SUV was traveling southbound on mile 6, when a mini bike failed to yield at a stop intersection. The male adult driver of the Jeep then struck the mini bike with its front left.
“The male driver is okay stopped and render the girl had to be transported by air,” says Sgt. Johnny Hernandez, department of public safety
Neither the 7 year girl nor her dad were wearing their helmets. Hernandez says these type of vehicles are very hard to see on the road and sends an important message.
According the latest figures the number of motorcyclists killed annually since 2000 has more than doubled and eighty-seven percent of motorcycle crashes result in a death or injury. In spite of this, the number of motorcycles on Texas roadways has more than doubled in the last decade.
Motorcyclist must be properly licensed to operate a motorcycle in the state of Texas. The DPS motorcycle safety unit coordinates training courses for both basic and experienced riders.
