Health Matters: Concerned Mothers Petition For Kraft’s Artificial Color Additives To Be Removed From Products
This article was published 3 months 14 days ago which may make its actuality or accuracy no longer valid. Foxrio2.com is not responsible for any misunderstanding. Two concerned mothers from North Carolina are putting together a petition to remove the artificial color additives inside U.S. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese products.
The additives, yellow dye 5 and yellow dye 6 are what make the iconic Kraft macaroni and cheese the bright orange color most children and adults grew up with.
But the mothers believe the additives may harm children’s health and development.
The mothers say the dyes are known carcinogens man-made in a lab with chemicals derived from petroleum.
Kraft products in Europe contain no artificial coloring; paprika and beta-carotene are replacements.
The food and drug administration says these color additives can be found in most processed foods such as snacks, cheese, margarine, candies and sodas.
According to the FDA, the artificial color additives help to maintain and enhance color.
The petition has reached the required 150,000 signatures necessary to present to Kraft, now the mothers must wait patiently for a response.
